Fort Macleod RCMP charge two Southern Albertans with drug and weapons offences

FORT MACLEOD, AB – Two people from Southern Alberta face multiple charges following a drug and weapons bust by the Fort Macleod RCMP.

On July 26, 2022, Mounties were conducting traffic enforcement in Fort Macleod when they stopped a male driver who had warrants for his arrest issued by the Calgary Police Service.

During the traffic stop, officers located:

  • 18 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • Two grams of suspected fentanyl
  • 254 grams of marijuana
  • Three prohibited weapons

30-year-old Clayton Roger Doyle of Claresholm faces the following charges:

  • Two counts of possession of schedule 1 drug;
  • One count of possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling;
  • Three counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • Three counts of weapon possession contrary to an order;
  • One count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Cameron Leo Rasmussen of Fort Macleod has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of schedule 1 drug;
  • One count of possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling;
  • Three counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • One count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

Cpl. Paul Bedard of the Fort Macleod RCMP stated, “Illicit drug use damages the community as a whole.”

“Fort Macleod RCMP are committed to investigating and prosecuting drug traffickers to improve public safety. If anyone has information on illegal activity, they are encouraged to reach out to Fort Macleod RCMP to help work toward a safer community,” Bedard said.

Both individuals have been released from custody on bail with conditions. Their next court appearances are scheduled for August 24, 2022 in Fort Macleod Provincial Court.
