Lethbridge crews recognize 100 years of Fire Prevention Week
LETHBRIDGE, AB – We are in the midst of Fire Prevention Week (FPW), and this year marks a significant anniversary for the awareness campaign.
FPW is October 9-15, 2022 and this year is the 100-year anniversary of the initiative. During the week, adults and children alike are encouraged to practice their fire escape plan in their home and are educated in staying safe in case of a fire. The City of Lethbridge said in a release that the hope is to “drastically reduce casualties caused by fires”.
The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape’.
Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services is encouraging all residents to develop a fire escape plan and know at least two ways out of every room in their home. The recommendation is to practice a fire escape plan at least twice per year.
