LETHBRIDGE, AB – A high honour has been bestowed upon a local elected official from Southern Alberta.

At the Rural Municipalities of Alberta convention in Edmonton, Lethbridge County Reeve Tory Campbell was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.

He says he is truly honoured to receive the distinguished award.

“As municipal councillors, we are elected to improve our communities and the lives of our citizens – a responsibility which is not taken lightly. I, along with all members of Lethbridge County Council, strive to provide good governance and solutions to challenges for the benefit of the County,” says Campbell.

The commemorative medal was created this year to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne as Queen of Canada. It honours those who have made significant contributions to their province or municipality.

A total of 7,000 Albertans will receive the Platinum Jubilee Medal including MLAs, Indigenous leaders, members of the Alberta Order of Excellence, and others.

Campbell has been a member of Lethbridge County council since 2017 and is currently beginning his second term as reeve.
