LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge is saying goodbye to electric scooters and bikes for the season.

Neuron Mobility says, as the weather cools down for the winter, their last day of service in Lethbridge is set for November 28, 2022.

Since launching earlier this year, motorized scooters and bikes have traveled approximately 430,000 kilometers within the city.

According to the agency, this prevented 36 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted.

The company says the energy-efficient rides also helped boost the local economy as a survey conducted by Neuron in July 2022 found that more than six in ten journeys in Lethbridge resulted in a purchase from a local business.

Results indicated that 29 percent of riders made purchases at local stores, 25 percent were made from a restaurant, bar or café, and an additional 15 percent were made at a local event or gym.

The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce also commissioned a survey to collect information from local business owners with their views on e-bikes and e-scooters.

From the Chamber, it was discovered that nearly nine in 10 respondents believed that rental scooters made it easier for locals and visitors to check out Lethbridge businesses and activities, while 63 percent felt that e-scooters are making the city more attractive to tourists.

While Neuron is wrapping up its first season in Lethbridge this month, the environmentally friendly mode of transportation will be back in Spring 2023.
