Lethbridge Hurricane’s Laventure named WHL Player of the Week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A member of the Lethbridge Hurricanes is being recognized by the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Tyson Laventure has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending on December 11, 2022.

The 19-year-old forward recorded seven points including two goals and five assists and a +4 rating over his three appearances this past week.

The Canes won all three of those games.

Originally from Lloydminster, Laventure first registered two assists in Lethbridge’s game against the Swift Current Broncos on Tuesday, December 6. He helped his team to come out with a 7-2 victory.

He got another two assists on the Friday, December 9 clash with the Medicine Hat Tigers, a game in which the Hurricanes won 5-3.

Laventure then got one goal and one assist in Lethbridge’s 4-3 win over Swift Current on Saturday, December 10.

His point streak has been extended to eight games.

The 6’3″, 190-pound forward leads all members of the Lethbridge Hurricanes with 18 assists and ranks second among club scoring leaders with 28 total points.

He was selected by the Prince Albert Raiders in the second round of the 2018 draft and was acquired by the Hurricanes in December 2021.

In his WHL career so far, Laventure has appeared in 163 regular-season games, totalling 79 points including 31 goals and 48 assists.
