Bootsma Bakery: supporting the community through comfort food

Jan 12, 2023 | 2:02 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Bootsma Bakery is a true authentic bakery experience. The owners understand that sometimes a tasty treat is all you need, and they also know that supporting local businesses is important, not just for them, but for everyone.

There are countless ways that Bootsma Bakery supports the community. In 2022 alone, Bootsma Bakery donated more than $12,000 dollars in baking, gift cards, gift certificates and gift baskets to local charities and causes.

The bakery donates its leftover goods to the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen to help those in need of a good meal. To support a local church group, volunteers made 1,500 do-it-yourself cookie kits for children, and Bootsma Bakery portioned out the sprinkles, stamped out the cookies, made icing tubes, and packed them all up.

Bootsma Bakery also participated in the “Amazing Race” themed charity events by being a pit stop with activities and clues.

Bootsma Bakery owners say, “Supporting the community is imperative for us and our business. By supporting the organizations within our community, we help build up a strong community. We support each other.” They believe helping the community in even small ways makes Lethbridge a better place, whether that’s through feeding one family or employing local people.
