Theoretically Brewing Company: where locals brew community spirit
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Kel Baird and Kris Fischer of Theoretically Brewing Company began experimenting with home brewing around 2011 or 2012, with the idea of one day opening a brewery together.
Kris had been brewing since he was a teenager, learning under the tutelage of his grandfather. Kel enjoyed Kris’ home-brewed beer over the course of many years, and together the pair came up with what they thought was a great idea: Theoretically Brewing Company.
Kris and Kel have always had a passion for pints and a zeal for the medieval. That’s actually how they met: as medieval re-enactors! One of the things they loved about the history of taverns or breweries in the middle ages, is that those were the places where people gathered when they were not at home or work.
Taverns, breweries and cafes over the ages evolved to become so-called ‘third places’, with many taverns and breweries throughout Europe acting as community centers, meeting halls, concert venues and more.
