Alberta government launches nursing pilot project

CALGARY, AB – The Alberta government is launching a new pilot project that it hopes will create a more efficient assessment system for internationally-educated nurses arriving in the province.
The provincial government says improving the system for internationally-educated nurses can help Alberta’s healthcare system remain strong going forward.
“We are committed to removing barriers for internationally-educated nurses who want to work and live in Alberta. By streamlining the process, nurses can begin practicing sooner and we can continue strengthening the healthcare workforce that provides support to Albertans when and where they need it,” said Minister of Health Jason Copping.
The ‘triple track’ assessment pilot project will create an Alberta assessment facility for internationally-educated nurses. The assessment site is expected to open in the fall of 2023.
