LETHBRIDGE, AB – Phase One snow routes are now active in Lethbridge.

As of 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023, vehicle owners in the city must move all vehicles parked on-street along Phase One snow routes by 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Temporary parking restrictions will come into effect to help facilitate snow plowing. The City of Lethbridge said alternate parking includes driveways, rear parking pads and along streets that are not a part of the Phase One snow routes.

Officials note that 24 hours from activation of the Phase One snow routes, vehicles parked in lanes includes in these routes will be subject to parking tickets when they impede the operation of snow plows on these routes.

The measures will remain in place until the City of Lethbridge declares that Phase One snow routes are no longer active, and regular parking can resume.

Phase One snow routes can be seen via a blue snowflake tab on the upper side of snow route parking signs. The City of Lethbridge said that so far this season, just under 1,500 courtesy reminders were distributed to non-compliant vehicles on active snow routes, giving motorists a chance to learn about the process before receiving a parking ticket.

Snow routes can become active at any time during the season when snowfall creates unsafe driving conditions, as determined by City of Lethbridge Transportation Operations. More details are available at the City of Lethbridge website. Residents can also call 311 with any questions.
