Four charged in connection to Okotoks break and enter

OKOTOKS, AB – Four people have been charged following a reported break and enter in Okotoks.

The RCMP said at around 3:06 a.m. on April 8, 2023, officers responded to a break and enter at a business on Southridge Drive in Okotoks. Police reported that the suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of goods, including firearms.

The RCMP noted that a suspect vehicle was found attempting to leave the area. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested four people without incident. The firearms were recovered by police.

Curtis David Lacey, 33, of Waterton Park, is charged with the following:

  • Break and Enter and Commit Theft
  • Break and Enter to Steal Firearms
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Disguise with Intent to Commit Offence
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Methamphetamine

Dustin Edward Wood, a 42-year-old resident of Calgary, is charged with:

  • Break and Enter and Commit Theft
  • Break and Enter to Steal Firearms
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Disguise with Intent to Commit Offence
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Methamphetamine
  • Failing to Comply with a release order condition

A 36-year-old resident of Calgary, Kari Holtz, is charged with:

  • Break and Enter and Commit Theft
  • Break and Enter to Steal Firearms
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Disguise with Intent to Commit Offence
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Methamphetamine

Chassidy Larsen, a 37-year-old resident of Calgary, is charged with:

  • Break and Enter and Commit Theft
  • Break and Enter to Steal Firearms
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Disguise with Intent to Commit Offence
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Methamphetamine

The RCMP reported that all four individuals were held for a Judicial Interim Hearing.

Lacey was remanded in custody and is scheduled to be in Okotoks Provincial Court on April 14, 2023. Wood was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on April 11, 2023. Holtz and Larsen were released from custody and are both scheduled to be in Okotoks Provincial Court on May 5, 2023.
