Second crew from Lethbridge to assist in Brazeau County wildfire response

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Local fire crews from Lethbridge continue to assist in the efforts to battle wildfires.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, it was reported that a team of four firefighters from Lethbridge were being deployed to help battle the Buck Creek Fire in Brazeau County near Drayton Valley, Alberta.

On Friday, May 12, the City of Lethbridge confirmed that the crew was nearing the end of its first operational period in that area.

Officials noted that a second crew of four firefighters are on their way to replace the first crew over the weekend. The second team will work a total of four days in support of the operations in Brazeau County.

As of the afternoon on Friday, May 12, there are 76 active wildfires listed on the Alberta Wildfire Status Dashboard, with 20 of those listed as being ‘out of control’.
