Coaldale RCMP and Lethbridge Police arrest man following firearms complaint

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Coaldale man has been arrested following a firearms complaint on Friday, May 26, 2023.

At 4:40 p.m. on Friday, Coaldale RCMP said it responded to a report of a man with a handgun who was shooting at a residence in Coaldale. The suspect reportedly left the scene and headed toward Lethbridge, where he allegedly shot at a vehicle beside him while travelling on Highway 3.

Officers located the suspect on Highway 3 and 43 Street in Lethbridge, where he was arrested by RCMP in collaboration with the Lethbridge Police Service. A pistol was located in the vehicle and was determined to be a BB gun.

Danial Ferguson, 37, of Coaldale, faces multiple charges, including:

  • Two counts of pointing a firearm
  • Two counts of discharging a firearm with intent
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Two counts of mischief

Ferguson was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and was remanded for Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on May 29, 2023.
