LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge residents will soon have more courts where they can play pickleball.

Construction started on six new pickleball courts in Legacy Park on Monday, May 29, 2023. There are currently six existing courts at the north Lethbridge park.

According to the City of Lethbridge, construction of the new courts may have some impact on park users, as construction fencing and signage will be in place around the area where they will be built.

The existing courts will remain open if there are no safety issues present, however, the northern three courts will be closed sometime in June or early July until completion.

Officials said a portion of the nearby parking lot will also be used as a staging area, whereas the rest of the parking lot will be available for use.

The six new play areas will include a Plexipave coating and windscreens, and will be accessible via a concrete walkway on the west side of the new courts.

The construction is anticipated to be completed by mid-August, weather permitting.

Those looking for more information can go to the City of Lethbridge website.
