Charges pending following search at Henderson Lake

LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE (June 2 at 4:00 p.m.): The Lethbridge Police Service says a pellet gun was recovered from the water. The investigation into the assault is ongoing and charges against a suspect are pending.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) and the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services Dive Team are searching Henderson Lake for items supposedly dumped in the water.

On the morning of June 2, 2023, officers responded to reports of an alleged assault outside a business along the 600 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South.

According to police, the male suspect fled the scene and subsequently ran into Henderson Lake.

The subject then allegedly proceeded to dispose of undisclosed items in his possession into the water.

The LPS has since taken the suspect into custody and members of the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services Dive Team have been called out to assist in locating the supposed items in the lake.

First responders indicate that there is no risk to the public.
