Lethbridge Police increasing presence for Street Machine Weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Street Machine Weekend is coming up in Lethbridge, and the Lethbridge Police Service will have extra hands on deck.

Street Machine Weekend runs July 14-16, 2023 with events scheduled at the Exhibition Grounds and Galt Gardens. Events include 100-foot drag races at Exhibition Park on Saturday, and a Show and Shine at Galt Gardens on Sunday. A full list of activities can be found here.

Lethbridge Police, along with Alberta Sheriffs, will be deployed to provide a visible police presence during the events and conduct enforcement to ensure public safety.

Police issued 115 violation tickets during last year’s event, mostly for stunting and equipment violations. There were also three Criminal Code charges, eight warrants executed, three vehicles towed and one sanction for impaired driving.

Sgt. Danny Lomness with LPS said, “We just want everybody to have fun and enjoy the good weekend, and just be safe out there.”
