Province announces internet pilot program with Starlink
CARDSTON COUNTY, AB – The provincial government has announced a new pilot program that aims to give three rural communities access to high-speed internet.
The pilot is a partnership with Starlink satellite internet technology and is part of the province’s goal to connect every part of Alberta to high-speed internet by 2027.
Residents and businesses of the County of Forty Mile, County of Warner No. 5, and Cardston County can apply to participate in the pilot. It will test the use of satellite internet technology instead of fibre and fixed wireless technologies.
Minister of Technology and Innovation, Nate Glubish said, “Advancing satellite internet technology in Alberta is an important milestone and an innovative way to achieve our goal of universal connectivity by 2027.”
