LSCO hosting free in-person Christmas dinner for 39th year

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (LSCO) is having its 39th annual Christmas Turkey Dinner on Monday, December 25, 2023.

Volunteers have dedicated themselves to serving a Christmas meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for anyone in the community who is seeking friendly company on the holiday.

After three years of having to deliver meals, LSCO is returning to in-person service. Those looking to attend the Christmas dinner are asked to RSVP by calling the LSCO to ensure there is enough food.

Executive Director Rob Miyashiro said, “We’re seeing more and more people, especially seniors, forced to make tough choices between food and other necessities.”

He continued, “Our Christmas dinner gives attendees a delicious meal and the opportunity to feel that cheery holiday atmosphere that they may not be able to experience at home.”

Despite returning to in-person, the LSCO will continue its meal delivery service for homebound individuals, the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, Wood’s Homes Youth Shelter and on-duty police and firefighters, reaching over 1,000 people on Christmas day.

Anyone interested in contributing to this year’s Christmas Turkey Dinner through sponsorship or volunteering can contact the LSCO at 403-320-2222.
