Salvation Army thrift stores encourage Canadians to declutter this February
Salvation Army Thrift Stores across Canada are taking part in the Clutter-Free February campaign, encouraging Canadians to declutter and in turn help the organization help those who need it most.
The organization turns funds collected into support for vital programs which address food insecurity, shelter for people experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, addictions rehabilitation and more.
“Donations at this time of year typically drop up to 15 per cent in comparison to the rest of the year,” explains Ted Troughton, Managing Director of The Salvation Army Thrift Store. “This shortfall significantly impacts our ability to provide essential items to individuals and families facing economic hardships, especially as we continue to experience higher demand. That’s why we are relying on our local communities to support our Clutter-Free February campaign.”
The Salvation Army notes that studies show a clutter-free environment can reduce stress, enhance focus and create a more harmonious living space.
