Naming rights secured for Coaldale’s new Multi-Use Rec Centre

COALDALE, AB – The new recreation centre in Coaldale now officially has its name.

The Town of Coaldale has announced that Shift Real Estate has secured the naming rights and sponsorship agreement for the facility, which will now be known as the Shift Community Recreation Centre.

An official with the Town says the company paid $500,000 for the rights, which will last for the next 10 years.

Shift President Mike Davis says the sponsorship aligns with their core values of community, teamwork, integrity, and family.

“”We’re thrilled to have secured the naming rights to Coaldale’s new multi-use recreation centre,” says Davis. “By finalizing this sponsorship agreement, our company is not only investing in Coaldale’s future, but also, investing in the health and wellness of Coaldale and area residents for many years to come.”

The $13 million facility, spanning 55,000 square feet of programmable space, will feature amenities such as:

• Dry sports:
  • Pickleball, indoor soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, badminton, squash
• Exercise:
  • Walking and running track, fitness centre with weightlifting and cardio, washrooms and locker rooms
• Childcare and play space:
  • Daycare centre, indoor play structure, outdoor play area
• Events and breakout space:
  • Banquets, trade shows, special events, meetings, training sessions, parties and group gatherings

Coaldale Mayor Jack Van Rijn thanked Shift for helping to bring their new facility to life.

“This brand new, state-of-the-art facility will stand at the heart of Malloy Landing and help attract many of the residents who end up settling in the new subdivision. As a Council, we’re incredibly excited to see Shift take on this project and look forward to seeing the Shift Community Recreation Centre officially open,” says Van Rijn.

The Shift Community Recreation Centre is set to hold its grand opening on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

The first major event at the Centre will be the 2024 Southern Alberta Summer Games.
