Lethbridge Police charge man with attempted murder

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) claims that a man tried to kill a woman in her sleep.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, police were called to a home on the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North.

A 27-year-old woman reported that an unknown man entered the home through an open ground-floor window and used a weapon to “bludgeon” her while she was asleep.

The man then escaped through the same window.

The woman was taken by EMS to Chinook Regional Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

According to LPS, the accused is unknown to the victim and the crime was a random act of violence.

Police arrested the suspect the following day.

Corbin John Maxwell, 28, of Coaldale, is charged with attempted murder and housebreaking with intent.

Following a bail hearing, Maxwell was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court September 17, 2024.
