BOW ISLAND, AB – For the middle of October, it was a pretty warm Monday.

Environment Canada says heat records were set in three southern Alberta communities on Thanksgiving, October 14, 2024.

They say Bow Island got the warmest, hitting 27.9 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record of 27.2 set in 1961.

Milk River almost reached the same high, getting up to 27.6. The town’s previous Oct. 14 record was 23.2, which was set in 2014.

It was a bit cooler in Waterton Lakes National Park with a high of 24.1 degrees. That beat the community’s previous record of 22 degrees in 1982.

Although Lethbridge got up to 25.9 degrees on Monday, Environment Canada does not list that as setting a new record for the city.
