Holy Spirit Catholic School Division to adjust attendance areas

The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is making a change to its attendance areas.

They are doing so in preparation for the opening of the West Lethbridge Elementary School in 2026.

The division adds that the move is an opportunity to alleviate enrollment pressures at schools across Lethbridge. They will meet with affected parents to help with the decision making process before a plan is developed.

Holy Spirit’s Board Chair, Dr. Carmen Mombourquette says, “Parent voice is extremely important and valued and that is why we will talk first, show the current attendance data, get suggestions on a way forward, and then plan. We look forward to the engagement sessions and to hearing from you.”

Construction on West Lethbridge Elementary School is scheduled to begin in fall of 2025 and expected to be fully operational and welcoming students in September 2026.

Funding for the project was announced in April 2023 prior to Alberta’s September 2024 funding announcement of $8.6 billion to build new schools in Alberta.
