Lethbridge Police have seized multiple weapons and drugs as part of a downtown enforcement project.

During a day-long project on November 6, 2024, members of the Downtown Policing Unit, Crime Suppression Team, Property Crimes Unit, High Risk Offenders Unit and Community Peace Officers executed 66 warrants, arrested 40 people for open drug use, and seized nearly 400 doses of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

In addition, LPS seized six knives and edged weapons, issued 16 tickets, apprehended one suspended driver.

The targeted enforcement operation will continue regularly and businesses and visitors in the downtown area can expect to see a heightened police presence on the days the teams are deployed.

The operation was part of the LPS 2024 Annual Policing Plan, to help increase visibility and capacity in the downtown core.
