Lethbridge couple wins $1 million on scratch ticket

LETHBRIDGE, AB — What started out as a last-minute birthday gift might have ended up being the best present a Lethbridge woman had ever received.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) says Catherine and Darcy Fritz have won the $1 million jackpot on a $5 SET FOR LIFE Scratch & Win ticket.

“Darcy didn’t know what to get me for my birthday, so he bought the ticket while filling up at the gas station,” Catherine said.

The couple immediately went to a store to confirm the win. Catherine says it still has not sunk in.

“I just can’t believe it,” laughed Darcy.

They plan to enjoy their winnings with their family and complete some renovations on their home.

Catherine and Darcy Fritz purchased the winning $5 SET FOR LIFE Scratch & Win ticket at Canadian Tire Gas Bar located at 1240 2A Avenue N in Lethbridge.
