The Coaldale & District Soccer Association has made a big donation to Coaldale’s Shift Recreation Centre.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the organization donated $50,000 to the Shift Community Recreation Centre as part of the Town of Coaldale’s “Coaldale STRONG” fundraising campaign.

The donation was announced at a ceremony at the facility, which marked the culmination of a fundraising campaign that started when the ITB and Food Market fields in the facility began construction.

Coaldale mayor Jack Van Rijn said, “This donation highlights the dedication of the Coaldale & District Soccer Association to enhancing opportunities for sport and recreation in our community. Their contribution will help ensure that the Shift Community Recreation Centre is equipped to provide top-notch programming for all ages and abilities. We deeply appreciate their investment in Coaldale’s future.”

Coaldale STRONG began in fall 2021 while the rec centre was under construction, and has continued since opening to support the programming and operations of the facility.

As a result of the donation, the Coaldale & District Soccer Association’s logo is now displayed on the Coaldale STRONG recognition wall, the score clock, and sections of the glass boards surrounding the indoor soccer field.
