Bennett, Marchand put rivalry aside for Canada ahead of U.S. matchup at 4 Nations
MONTREAL — Sam Bennett was getting ready for practice Friday morning.
A good soldier in Canada’s camp at the 4 Nations Face-Off, the bruising winger had to be disappointed at being a healthy scratch for his country’s tournament opener.
Bennett, a Stanley Cup champion last June with the Florida Panthers, remained eager to do whatever he could to help his teammates prepare for the next test.
Then came a tap on the shoulder from head coach Jon Cooper — the 28-year-old would be in the lineup Saturday night against the United States.
