Two from Lethbridge charged in ‘significant’ drug bust

The RCMP has apprehended two people for alleged drug trafficking just outside of Okotoks.

Officers say they were patrolling an area near Aldersyde when they noticed a vehicle with a license plate that did not match the vehicle.

A traffic stop was conducted, and police say they seized a large amount of drugs, cash and weapons.

The list of confiscated items is as follows:

  • 88 tablets of suspected Fentanyl
  • 35 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 40 dots of suspected Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD)
  • 6 grams of suspected Psilocybin (Mushrooms)
  • 177 grams of suspected Cannabis Resin
  • 257 tablets of prescription medications
  • An extendable baton and two knives
  • $7,300 in cash

Kory Shouting, 45, and Nancy Sovdi, 49, both from Lethbridge, were arrested.

The pair is each charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Both suspects have been remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear in court in Cochrane on June 17, 2025.
