Silver medal for Lethbridge speed skater

A short track speed skater from Lethbridge is celebrating a successful weekend after competing at an international event.

Mikka Eaves competed at the Elite International event in Montreal. Eaves was 3rd overall, and won a silver medal in the 1000m event (only 0.017 seconds away from taking the gold). She also placed 5th in the 500m and 22nd in the 1500m.

Another Lethbridge skater was also racing in Montreal – Gavin Ogilvie. Ogilvie placed 21st in the 1500m. Unfortunately, officials say he crashed in his 500m semi on Saturday and had to withdraw from the competition due to injury. He finished 33rd.
