Charges laid against Taber man for allegedly assaulting an officer
LETHBRIDGE – A 20-year old man from Taber has been charged in connection with an incident in south Lethbridge back on January 30.
The incident occurred in a parking lot along the 2100 Bl. of Palm Road South, as an officer was investigating a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area.
The officer approached one of the doors of a Lincoln MKX SUV and asked the driver to exit. When he didn’t, police say the officer went to the driver’s side door and tried to open it, but the driver reversed the vehicle and allegedly dragged the officer a short distance.
The officer then stepped away, but according to police, the SUV came forward, hitting the officer and pushing him back several feet before he was able to get out of the way.
