Alberta Beef Producers ask provincial youth to share their story in Young Guns contest

May 7, 2019 | 2:32 PM

CALGARY, AB — The Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) group is inviting the province’s youth to tell their story, by entering the Young Guns contest.

ABP Communications manager Katelyn Laverdure, says there are three prizes for entries that cover ages 8 to 21, for those involved in beef 4-H Junior cattle shows or just beef production in general.

This year, they want to hear about the youth involved in the beef industry, through their stories about how cattle and beef production have impacted their lives and shaped their future.

Laverdure explains that Young Guns can choose numerous ways in which to submit an entry.

“Entries can be submitted as an essay, video presentation, a social media campaign, a blog post, or any other form of communication. The deadline is midnight May 31st, and winners will be determined by a panel of judges at our semi-annual meeting in June and contacted by June 21st.”

There are three cash prizes available – first place in $1000, second place is $500 and third place is $250.

The entry form is available in the “Producer” section of the ABP website, right on the home page.
