Taber Cornfest still a go, despite hail storms impacting crops
TABER, AB – The Taber Chamber of Commerce has received quite a few calls in recent days asking if the town’s major annual festival will still be happening.
On Tuesday, August 6th, a hail storm destroyed significant amounts of corn and other crops in the Barnwell and Taber areas.
Johnson Fresh Farms told Lethbridge News Now that about 90% of their corn was no longer sellable, while Molnar’s Taber Corn lost 480,000-600,000 cobs of corn and around 1-million pounds of pumpkins.
Taber Cornfest Chair Jared Bell says, despite this, the event will go on as planned.
