Lethbridge Legion donates Navy anchor to local military museum

LETHBRIDGE, AB– After being given an old Navy ship anchor years ago, because of complications the Lethbridge Legion can’t have it at their current location anymore.

Therefore, the Legion is donating the anchor to the Lethbridge Military Museum, in hopes of giving the exhibit a new light.

The anchor was originally given to the Legion on remembrance day in 1974, and now will be a part of the legacy courtyard project in the Lethbridge military museum.

Lethbridge Legion’s communications manager, Glenn Miller, says the anchor had significant value to them over the years.

“It symbolizes the Navy element so from an Army, Navy, and Airforce perspective, we have a plane that represents the Airforce, an anchor that represents the Navy, and an armoured personnel carrier could represent the Army.”

Starting July 22, 2020, the Military Museum will be opened to the public and the anchor will then be put on display.
