Lethbridge youth group looks to help communities through “Mindfuel” funding
LETHBRIDGE, AB– A Lethbridge-based youth team has been looking to address sustainability in their community through MindFuel’s Tech Futures Challenge.
The challenge aims to “help youth develop innovative mindsets and critical thinking skills that will help them in their future education and careers.”
Team ULethbridge iGem placed second out of 13 teams in “Phase One” of the challenge and was awarded $1,500 in funding for their project.
Their project aimed to genetically modify a bacteria to address the issue of blue-green algae in Southern Alberta and its surrounding areas.
