AHS reports 21 COVID deaths this weekend, 1,345 COVID cases/day

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics from the past three days.

In that time, 4,037 cases were confirmed across the province with a daily average of 1,345, bringing the total to 303,839. Of those, 20,674 cases are active while 280,413 people have recovered.

For the South Zone, 386 people tested positive, or about 129 per day. That includes 113 people in Lethbridge and 93 in Medicine Hat.

Active infections across the region fell by 49 since Friday.

Since yesterday’s update, 21 Albertans died from COVID with eight in the Edmonton Zone, five in the North Zone, three each in the South and Calgary Zones, and two in the Central Zone. To date, 2,752 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The deaths in the South Zone were for residents of Medicine Hat, Cypress County, and the M.D. of Pincher Creek.

Provincially, 1,079 patients are currently hospitalized including 257 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 114,631 cases, 4,930 active
    • 279 in hospital, 85 in ICU
    • 786 deaths (three new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 96,865 cases, 4,903 active
    • 320 in hospital, 113 in ICU
    • 1,203 deaths (eight new)
  • North Zone – 39,820 cases, 4,211 active
    • 142 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 276 deaths (five new)
  • Central Zone – 32,310 cases, 4,379 active
    • 207 in hospital, 20 in ICU
    • 275 deaths (two new)
  • South Zone – 20,153 cases, 2,224 active
    • 131 in hospital, 29 in ICU
    • 212 deaths (three new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past three days:

  • Lethbridge – 6,266 cases (113 new), 487 active, 45 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 2,285 cases (41 new), 149 active, five deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,068 cases (29 new), 169 active, 13 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,904 cases (43 new), 167 active, 27 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,022 cases (93 new), 574 active, 59 deaths (one new)
  • Brooks – 1,996 cases (24 new), 179 active, 19 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,713 cases (35 new), 182 active, 14 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,584 cases (24 new), 184 active, 25 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,067 cases (24 new), 152 active, 11 deaths
  • Cypress County – 773 cases (12 new), 89 active, five deaths (one new)
  • County of Warner – 651 cases (16 new), 77 active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 547 cases (eight new), 64 active, nine deaths (one new)
  • Fort Macleod – 464 cases (five new), 46 active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 406 cases (nine new), 58 active, five deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 287 cases (nine new), 77 active, five deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 132 cases (three new), 12 active, one death
  • Waterton – Seven cases, zero active, zero deaths
