CP Holiday Train going virtual this season, benefit concert planned

CALGARY, AB – A familiar train will be making an impact for food banks this Christmas season.

Canadian Pacific (CP) will once again encourage Canadians and Americans to donate to its Holiday Train program, supporting food banks across their network. However, the program will run virtually this holiday season, as opposed to the train making physical stops in various communities.

CP’s President and CEO Keith Creel said, “while we are disappointed we again cannot bring the Holiday Train to communities, we are honored to run a virtual program and continue to support communities and food banks across our network as they work to address food insecurity in North America.”

This is the Holiday Train program’s 23rd year and since its inception in 1999, it has raised $19.4 million and collected 4.9 million pounds of food for community food banks along CP’s network.

CP will again be donating to all food banks that would ordinarily benefit from a Holiday Train stop, including those that typically receive the train in alternating years.

The company said live music has always been an integral part of the program, so a virtual benefit concert has been announced for the CP Holiday Train initiative.

Details on the virtual benefit concert will be announced in the coming weeks. More on CP is available here.
