COALDALE, AB – The Town of Coaldale has received its first donation to help fund the new multi-use recreation centre.

Chris Perry, Owner and Manager at Perry Family Farm, says they are giving $111,000 to help fund sport and recreation equipment in the facility.

“We’re so thrilled to be able to invest into Coaldale’s new recreation centre. It’s an awesome way to put some positive energy forward and bring the facility to life so it can be everything Coaldale deserves.”

Coaldale STRONG! is a capital campaign meant to generate philanthropic support while ensuring the rec centre is fully stocked with equipment.

Perry recalled Kate Andrews High School being old when he and his siblings attended, so he thought it was great to see a new high school being built with a rec centre alongside it.

The town’s Director of Recreation and Community Services Russ Tanner says they are grateful for the family’s donation.

“I’m excited about the role this facility will play in the overall health of Coaldale. The Perry Family’s contribution to the project will play a part in empowering Coaldale to become a hub of activity for families and community members of all ages.”

The multi-use recreation facility has a capital construction budget of $13-million. The town is planning for the facility to include activities such as:

  • Dry sports: Pickleball, indoor soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and squash
  • Exercise and fitness: Walking/running track, fitness centre with weightlifting, cardio, space for group fitness, and washrooms/locker rooms
  • Childcare and play space: Daycare centre, indoor play structure, outdoor play area
  • Events and breakout space: Banquets, trade shows, special events, meetings, training sessions, parties/group gatherings
