Police in Calgary lay dozens of charges against two men over 3D gun manufacturing

CALGARY, AB – Police in Calgary have arrested two men suspected of running a firearms production and trafficking operation.

So far this year, Calgary officers have seized more than 1,200 firearms, including more than 300 believed to have been used in committing a crime.

Of the guns used in suspected crimes, nine per cent were homemade or 3D printed — a significant increase over last year.

Acting Staff Sgt. Ben Lawson says the 3D-printed guns are a growing trend and function the same as regular firearms.

Following an investigation that began last November, police have now laid 66 charges against the two suspects.

Brandon Vincent-Wager and Justin Kumar are expected to appear in court later next month on charges that include firearms manufacturing, firearms trafficking, and possession of firearms or restricted devices.
