UPDATE: Lethbridge first responders put out afternoon coulee fire

UPDATE: February 17 @ 6:55 p.m.

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge has confirmed that there were no injuries in the wild land grass fire on Friday, February 17, 2023.

Grass and brush in the area were left charred. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

UPDATE: February 17 @ 5:27 p.m.

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Fire Platoon Chief, Warren Keith, has confirmed to Lethbridge News Now that the coulee fire is out.

First responders from four stations arrived on scene at 2:45 p.m. and worked quickly to knock out the blaze.

At this time the cause of the fire remains unknown.

UPDATE: February 17 @ 4:22 p.m.

LETHBRIDGE, AB – First responders in Lethbridge are still on scene of a grass fire that broke out earlier this afternoon in the coulees.

Crews worked quickly to subdue the blaze and the smoke is no longer visible.

Traffic is now moving freely in the area.

The City of Lethbridge indicates an update from Fire and EMS will be shared once more details become available.

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge fire crews are battling a blaze in the coulees this afternoon, Friday, February 17, 2023.

LNN has received reports that emergency vehicles are blocking pathways near the dog park along Scenic Drive South, and visibility is reduced in some areas of Scenic Drive South.

Strong winds are presenting an additional challenge to emergency crews on site.

Traffic is being diverted, and motorists are advised to use caution in the area.
