Hundreds gather at Henderson Lake and Galt Gardens for Canada Day

LETHBRIDGE, AB – July 1, 2023, marks the 156th anniversary of Canada.

In 1867, the British North American Act was signed on July 1, now known as the Constitution Act 1867. It signified the creation of Canada.

On Saturday, thousands of people across the country gathered to celebrate the national holiday.

In Lethbridge, residents came together at Henderson Lake Park and Galt Gardens to take part in a number of festivities.

At Henderson Lake Park, events took place from 11:00 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., with live performances, food trucks, activities for kids like bouncy castles, face painting and games.

As part of the annual celebration, a fireworks show will take place at 11:00 p.m. over the lake to wrap up the event.

At Galt Gardens, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there was a pancake breakfast kicking off the morning along with live performances and a number of local vendors.

Also in the park, The Le Barons Car Club hosted a Show ‘N Shine car show from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with food donations being accepted on behalf of the Interfaith Food Bank.

Alongside the local festivities, the Lethbridge Bulls are playing a double-header at Spitz Stadium.

They play against the Swift Current 57s at 2:05 p.m. and again at 7:35 p.m., with tickets available for purchase at the gate.

Tonight, the Rocky Mountain Turf Club will host Warrior Relay Races starting at 7:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, July 2, at 1:30 p.m., with admission for both days free.
