‘Living Dragons’ coming to Whoop-Up Days 2023

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Fans of reptiles rejoice! A traveling exhibit has been announced as a part of the 2023 Whoop-Up Days festivities in Lethbridge.

The Wildlife Festival will see a wide array of reptiles come to the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre from August 22 to 26, 2023. The event combines education and entertainment, and allows visitors to get up-close and personal with real-life animals.

For Whoop-Up Days, the Wildlife Festival will bring its ‘Living Dragons’ exhibit to Lethbridge. Guests can see snakes, iguanas, dragons and more.

Mike Warkentin, CEO of Lethbridge and District Exhibition said, “We have seen first-hand the excitement the Wildlife Festival brings each time they visit.”

“The opportunity for visitors to see and interact with these animals brings joy to all ages, and we know it will add an exciting element to Whoop-Up Days. It continues our commitment to ensuring there is a variety of entertainment for everyone,” he added.

The Wildlife Festival has toured western Canada since 2015 and is promoted by Calgary-based YYC Nature and Education Centre, as well as Cobb’s Adventure Park and Exotic Animal Rescue.

The interactive exhibit will highlight the animals and their habitats.

Jason Clevett with Wildlife Festival said, “Dragons have captured humans’ imaginations for thousands of years and reptiles have many similarities to the mythical creatures.”

Clevett stated, “This will allow visitors to have up-close experiences with dragons, iguanas, snakes, and more, without the fire breathing. Explore the connections between the scaled beasts of stories and our own ‘Living Dragons!”

Admission to the Wildlife Festival will be by donation, with proceeds going to the care of animals.

‘Living Dragons’ will run daily until 8 p.m. at Whoop-Up Days in Salon A of the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre. More details are available at the Whoop-Up Days website.
