Naming rights secured for pathway connecting Coaldale and Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – A 15-kilometre bike path connecting Lethbridge and Coaldale has its official naming partner. The Link Pathway Committee has announced that the naming rights to the path have been secured by MPE, a division of Englobe.

This means that going forward, the pathway will be known as the MPE Link Pathway.

President Gerald Veldman said, “Increasing our support for this project made a lot of sense for us.”

Veldman added, “MPE got our start as a small new firm right here in the Lethbridge area, doing business with the communities in the region. Supporting this project is our way of saying thank you to the communities and the people to whom we owe our success as a company. We are very proud to have this project bear our name.”

Officials said the support received as part of the naming sponsorship from MPE will “significantly advance” the project.

Chair of the MPE Link Pathway Board of Directors, Henry Doeve said that construction on the first five kilometres from Coaldale to the Jail Road is “about half-way complete”.

Doeve stated, “MPE’s partnership has placed us very favourably for tackling the next stage. We’re in a position now where the whole route is shovel ready and we’re only waiting on funding decisions to start tendering additional sections.”

The MPE Link Pathway officially has candidate status with the Trans Canada Trail network and will become part of the nationwide trail network once it is completed. There will be three picnic shelters along the route, three bridges and one tunnel under Highway 512.
