Livingstone Range schools to close Friday due to extreme cold
FORT MACLEOD, AB – A school division in southern Alberta is set to keep its doors closed due to the extreme cold weather.
The Livingstone Range School Division confirmed to LNN that none of its schools will open on Friday, January 12, 2024, and that busses will not be running.
The Division operates a total of 19 schools in Nanton, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod, Coleman, Granum, Blairmore, Lundbreck, Stavely, and Claresholm.
Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning for all of Alberta on Thursday, saying wind chills will be around – 40 degrees Celsius. The temperature is forecast to drop even further, with wind chills going as low as -50 on Saturday morning.
