St. Catherine School in Picture Butte reopening following ruptured pipe

PICTURE BUTTE, AB – Students in Picture Butte are expected to return to class after a water pipe burst.

The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division said children at St. Catherine School were sent home on Monday, January 15, 2024.

“We suspect that one of the pipes that feeds the emergency sprinkler system froze in the office, causing it to burst. The resulting deluge of water ran into the rest of the office, gathering space, hallways, and adjacent classrooms,” reads an advisory from the School Division.

Classes at the school are set to resume on Wednesday, January 17.

The office will be temporarily operating out the the music room.
