LETHBRIDGE, AB – If you live in Lethbridge, you can get your home tested for radon for free.

The City of Lethbridge is partnering with Take Action on Radon to offer free kits to the first 100 registrants of the Radon Test Kit Challenge.

In addition to the kit, the program includes a virtual information session that covers the health effects of radon and Health Canada’s recommendations for homeowners.

People can sign up here.

The virtual information session will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. It is open to the public and will be live-streamed on the Take Action on Radon Facebook page.

Test kits can be picked up at Lethbridge City Hall at the Planning & Design counter on the first floor between November 14-22. They must be returned March 3-7, 2025.

Radon gas exposure is the number one leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers in Canada. It is invisible, odourless, and tasteless, so it is very difficult to detect without a kit.
