Man charged with theft of poppy boxes

LETHBRIDGE  -  A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with the theft of three poppy boxes throughout the city last week.

Between Nov. 5 and Nov. 9, thefts were reported at the Tim Hortons along the 2600 block of Scenic Drive North, and the 400 block of Scenic Drive South, as well as the 7-11 along the 2600 block of Scenic Drive North.  

Surveillance photos of the suspect were obtained and on Sunday, Nov. 12, an officer noticed a man matching the suspect’s description in the downtown area. The man fled from police but was located at the shelter where he was arrested.

Brendon Lyndon Plaited Hair is charged with three counts of theft under $5,000. He was released from custody and is to appear in court Nov. 29.

An investigation is ongoing into additional thefts and further charges. It isn’t known how much money was in the poppy boxes.
