Lethbridge Soccer Association in urgent need of coaches

Apr 10, 2019 | 12:06 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Spring is in the air, and that means soccer season is around the corner in Lethbridge.

The Lethbridge Soccer Association is looking for coaches for this season, who can commit to at least one hour per week and who know the game of soccer.

Executive Director Diane Herrick says they’re 25 coaches short right now.

“Youth ages 4 to 15 are needing coaches for this upcoming outdoor soccer season who can dedicate time, compassion, and leadership skills to developing their soccer talents and life skills.”

Anyone interested in coaching will have the opportunity to grow their soccer team program with the assistance of the Lethbridge Soccer Association.

“Coaches are screened and will need to provide a Criminal Records Check which will be paid for by the organization if done through our office” Herrick continued. “With registrations increasing, we are reaching out to the community to help us because we believe every kid should have the opportunity to play soccer.”

Herrick believes this will be an excellent opportunity for post-secondary students currently registered in a program.

“We have six Serving Communities Internship Program grants for students to access. They can apply for an internship at joinscip.ca. We’re also willing to provide reference letters for those seeking employment.”

The outdoor soccer season is only ten weeks long and runs from April 23 until June 22, and any interested coaches will have to attend a coaches meeting set to occur before April 23.

Herrick and the LSA thanked everyone who has signed up to coach already, adding they appreciate that people are willing to share their time and talents with the youth in the community.

If you can coach, you’re encouraged to register online here.
