Three Hurricanes listed on NHL Central Scouting final rankings ahead of 2024 Draft

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Three Lethbridge Hurricanes have been listed on the NHL Central Scouting rankings ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft.

Miguel Marques, Brayden Edwards and Landen Ward have all made the list.

Marques was ranked as the 53rd North American skater in the draft. The Prince George, B.C. product was the Hurricanes’ leading scorer in the 2023-24 season, putting up 28 goals and 46 assists for 74 points in 66 games. He added one assist in two playoff games, and was named the Hurricanes Top Scorer Award while also being the recipient of the Hurricanes Fan Favourite Award.

Edwards was rewarded for his excellent season with the Hurricanes by being named the 170th North American skater. Edwards finished his third season with Lethbridge second on the team in points behind Marques with 70, a 42 point jump from the previous season. He was named the recipient of the ‘Canes Hardest Working Player Award.

Ward established himself as a reliable two-way physical forward for the team in his rookie year, potting three goals and eight points along with a team-high 120 penalty minutes. The 6’3, 205-pound was named the team’s rookie of the year at the season’s end. He was listed as the 224th ranked North American skater.

56 WHL players were ranked by NHL Central Scouting in total. Among the others was Terik Parascak, a Lethbridge native playing for the Prince George Cougars. Parascak was ranked as the 14th North American skater, and was the WHL’s rookie of the year.

The 2024 NHL Entry Draft will be held the Sphere in Las Vegas on June 28-29.
