Town of Taber enacts level 1 water restrictions

May 6, 2024 | 9:14 AM

TABER, AB – Residents of Taber are asked to do their part to reduce water consumption.

The Town has enacted level 1 water restrictions, effective Monday, May 6, 2024.

They say it was due to both low water levels in the area and a request from the provincial government.

All outdoor water use is permitted as outlined in the image below:

The following steps are being taken at municipal facilities:

  • Southside Kiwanis Spray Park will be closed for the entirety of the 2024 season
  • Confederation Park Spray Park will have reduced hours:
    • 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., opening May 17 if weather allows
  • Irrigation in town-owned parks and green spaces will follow the above-mentioned watering restrictions

The Town of Taber says it is closely monitoring conditions while taking steps to be prepared for any severe weather.

More information on the water restrictions can be found on the Town of Taber website.

Some reprieve could be on the way this week, though, as Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for much of southern Alberta, including Taber.
