LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Lightning defeated the Fort Macleod Mustangs 8-5 on the road Saturday night (Jan. 20) to maintain their hold on 3rd place in the Ranchland Hockey League.

Newcomer Matthew Nadeau scored twice, while brothers Nic and Ben Bohle each scored shorthanded.

Shane Eyre, Brady Matson, Cody Berube, and Cam Hurt all added goals to round out the scoring in the win for the Lightning.

On the season, Lethbridge sits at 8-6-0-1 good for 17 points and just five points back of the Nanton Palominos for 2nd place overall.

The final road game of the month will be this Friday night (Jan. 26) when the team returns to Brocket to face the Piikani Regulators at 8:30 p.m.

After that, just four games remain in the month of February before the end of the regular season.

The Lightning are in the process of fine-tuning the team for a stretch run to the playoffs, and have made some changes as well.

They’ve announced that Micheal Teslack will be taking over as Head Coach, replacing former coach Jeff Koberinski, and he’ll be joined by Darryl Trautman as an Assistant Coach.

A release from the team also states the Lightning are anticipating a few more moves before Feb. 10, when rosters need to be set.
