Taber man charged in B-and-E and theft of hunting equipment
TABER — An investigation that began with a 911 call regarding a theft has resulted in numerous charges against a 36-year old Taber man.
On Saturday (Nov 24), Taber police were notified of the theft of a rifle and hunting equipment from a vehicle in the 6200 block of 62nd Street in Taber. During that investigation, officers also determined that a building foyer was entered in the same area and items taken from inside.
A witness identified the suspect vehicle and gave a clothing description whch helped Police find the vehicle backed onto the driveway of a home in the 4900 block of 62nd Avenue.
Officers spoke to the home owner and arrested Mason Cranston, who also lives at that residence.
A search warrant resulted in most of the stolen property being recovered. Some other items, including the rifle, were recovered in a field about 500 meters northwest of the suspected home.
Cranston has been charged with Break, enter and commit theft; Theft from a motor vehicle under $5000.00; Possession of a firearm while prohibited; Driving without a license; Driving an uninsured motor vehicle, and Driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
Cranston was remanded to make an initial appearance in Taber Provincial Court on Tuesday November 27.
